Last month, Complex ran a feature on the strange absence of most of Aaliyah's most famous material from streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. The piece centered around the singer's uncle and mentor, Barry Hankerson, who owns the majority of her iconic catalog and has refused to license it to streaming platforms or sell the music on iTunes.

Tonight though, Aaliyah's posthumous hits collection, Ultimate Aaliyah surfaced on Apple Music, including essentials like "One In a Million," "Rock the Boat," and "Are You That Somebody."

Until tonight, the only Aaliyah music streamable on any platform was her 1994 debut Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, the rights to which Hankerson doesn't own. Though Ultimate does contain most of her major subsequent hits, seminal full-lengths like One In a Million and Aaliyah are still nowhere to be found.

So far, no word on how long the music will be available, or how it got there. For now, grab Ultimate here and read up on the full story here.
