Jamiroquai Teases New Album With “Automaton Transmission” Clip

The U.K. group announced their return alongside a raft of tour dates.

Jamiroquai has released a teaser for their upcoming album, Automaton. In the short video, entitled "#AUTOMATON TRANSMISSION 001," front man Jay Kay meanders through the desert and through industrial tunnels, accompanied by a preview of their synth-heavy new music. To complete the futuristic vibes Jay Kay has updated his trademark headpiece; long gone is oversized top hat made famous in 1996's "Virtual Insanity" video and in its place is a wearable LED lightshow.

Automaton will be the band’s first new material since 2010, when they released their seventh studio album, Rock Dust Light Star.

Since then Tyler, the Creator reportedly wanted Jamiroquai to feature on his third album, Cherry Bomb. In 2015, Chance the Rapper sampled “Morning Glory” on his track “Israel” featuring Noname. The Internet, meanwhile, tweeted that seeing Jamiroquai live was an ultimate life goal, even giving a brief rendition of "Too Young To Die" at a 2014 live show.
