Top Dawg Entertainment has two reasons to celebrate today: Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q each have their first solo platinum certifications. Lamar's "Alright" from 2015's To Pimp A Butterfly and "Studio," Q's 2014 Oxymoron cut, were both certified by the RIAA this week, DJBooth has spotted.
Lamar has eight certified singles in his wheelhouse: "Swimming Pools (Drank)," "Poetic Justice," and as a featured artist on Sia's "The Greatest," A$AP Rocky's "Fuckin Problems," Tech N9ne's "Fragile," "Goosebumps" by Travis Scott, and Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood." Q has racked up three, all as a featured artist on songs like A$AP Ferg's "Work (Remix)," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's "White Walls," and Tinashe's "2 On." K Dot's first two albums good kid, m.A.A.d city and To Pimp a Butterfly both went platinum, along with Q's Oxymoron.
