Late Thursday in Austin, Texas, the fearless Cardi B climbed into the DJ booth with Jxmmi from Rae Sremmurd. She performed her new Offset-featuring single "Lick," her wavy red hair half-hidden under a mesh hood. It was the kind of surreal magic moment that makes The FADER FORT, our annual celebration of the music we love, such a consistently special place to be.

And that was far from the only memorable thing that happened Thursday. Smino slayed with help from Chicago mainstay Monte Booker, and Jxmmi teased unreleased Rae Sremmurd heat, and orchestrated a big group Budweiser toast. White Denim performed their new rainy day anthem “No Nee Ta Slode Aln,” and Chloe and Halle and Little Simz closed out the night, with killer sets respectively.
