This June M.I.A. will curate London's Meltdown Festival, following in the footsteps of artists such as David Bowie and Patti Smith in overseeing the annual event. Today, March 28, the first raft of artists performing at M.I.A.'s Meltdown have been announced.

Mercury Prize-winners Young Fathers will open the festival with what's been described as "a unique show created specially for Meltdown," followed by a late night after-party.

Young M.A will play a show at Royal Festival Hall on June 17 in what will be the New York MC's U.K. debut. Support on that date comes from Awful Records artist Tommy Genesis.

Other names confirmed for the festival include Mykki Blanco, Yung Lean, I Wayne, Dexta Daps, Crystal Castles, MHD, Mr Eazi, and Afrikan Boy. M.I.A. herself will close the festival with a headline show on June 18.

Tickets will be on sale to members on April 4 and to general public on April 6 at 10 a.m. The 2017 edition of Meltdown runs from June 9-18. Head to the Southbank Centre website for more information.
