In a conversation with Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg and Laura Styles this morning, Lil Yachty addressed a recent situation in which Chicago rapper Vic Mensa dissed him at a show at the University of Cincinnati. The original incident was recorded by a fan and, according to Complex, was part of a rap in which Mensa said "Then I signed to the 'Roc now they say I'm illuminati/ Bitch, I'm a tsunami, what the fuck is a Lil Yachty?" The last line can be heard clearly in a video posted to Instagram by DJ Akademiks:
Yachty himself attributed the lines it to a random attempt to grab his attention. "I feel like people just try and throw a shot at me just so I can respond," he said. While he confirmed that they've met twice, he also said "I've never even spoken to him, I just shook his hand." He concluded the discussion with a shrug of his shoulders and a shake of his head.
