With Teenage Emotions due out next week, Lil Yachty gave fans a look into the thought process behind the album's attention-grabbing cover art. The cover features the 19-year-old seated amidst a diverse group of other teens, which Yachty says is exactly the point.
"I wanted to have all these aspects of teenage life...so I thought about all the things I saw in high school for the first time, that I had never experienced before," he says in the video. "I had never seen two dudes kissing until high school."
The rapper also says that he had never encountered albinism or emo kids until high school either. He then takes the time to shout out his friends sitting behind him on the cover.
The video comes from an interview with Genius that was released earlier this month.
Teenage Emotions is out May 26.
