Louisiana rapper Webbie was arrested in Baton Rouge on Wednesday morning on charges of domestic abuse by strangulation, false imprisonment, second-degree battery, theft, and simple criminal damage to property, according to a report from local news outlet WVLA.

Webbie (real name Webster Gradney, Jr.) allegedly kept his girlfriend in a Comfort Inn hotel room for two hours against her will. The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, told authorities that he physically abused her by punching and hitting her, and using a belt. She also stated that he had put his knees on her throat, making it impossible to breathe.

Officers at the scene said that the victim had welps that were "several inches long" along her thighs and back, in addition to cuts and bruises. According to authorities, the victim claimed that Gradney had been under the influence of cocaine and marijuana for two days without sleeping.

The victim told police that this was not the first time Gradney had physically or verbally abused her, but it was the first time she had reported it.

Representatives for Webbie did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
