G.O.P. Health Care Bill Dies After Two Republican Senators Oppose
The bill now doesn’t have enough votes to pass the Senate.
The G.O.P's attempt to repeal Obamacare will not make it through Senate. On Monday night, Republican Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas said that they would not be voting for the bill, meaning that Republicans will not have enough votes for the bill to pass.
In a press release explaining why he wouldn't be supporting the bill, Sen. Lee wrote, “In addition to not repealing all of the Obamacare taxes, [the Better Care Reconciliation Act] doesn’t go far enough in lowering premiums for middle class families; nor does it create enough free space from the most costly Obamacare regulations.”
After Senators Lee and Moran announced their decision to not support the bill, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer of New York tweeted, "This second failure of #Trumpcare is proof positive that the core of this bill is unworkable."
