Baby In Vain’s new video is a freaky mini-movie

The Copenhagen band share new sweet and scary visuals for the blissed-out “Low Life.”

September 26, 2017

Baby In Vain is a Copenhagen three-piece who claim to be influenced equally by “One Direction and Black Sabbath.” On their great new album More Nothing, out now on Partisan Records, their stoned-out rock is cut through with silky, layered vocals from Lola Hammerich and Andrea Thuesen. Incidentally, they also have some covetable, cute’n’creepy merch featuring a three-eyed cat. Their abstract new video — for the lush “Low Life” — follows a similar through-line, splicing together soft-focus shots of a bedazzled flip phone, a bouquet of roses set aflame, and a pocket knife dragged across peachy skin. Hard to say exactly what’s going on, but you’ll want to keep watching for a “fuck yeah!” moment at the end.

In an email to The FADER, drummer Benedicte Pierleoni explained: “We wanted to do something that was completely different from visuals we'd done in the past. We contacted [director] Rasmus Petersen after watching a beautiful video he directed for another Copenhagen band, Sjæl I Flammer. He was up for doing the video, so we gave him 100% artistic freedom. We absolutely love how it turned out!”
