Stormzy has signed with Atlantic Records in the U.K. and will work with new artists to his own #MERKY label as part of the deal. The grime MC announced the news on January 20 by sharing a group shot including himself alongside executives from the #MERKY team plus Atlantic U.K. and parent company Warner Music.

Gang Signs & Prayer, Stormzy's 2017 debut album, was released independently with the artist deciding against signing with a label. The record was, however, distributed via Warner’s ADA label services.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Stormzy wrote: "Beginning of a new chapter. Looking forward to delivering more music, more bodies of work and to start developing and working on new talent on the #MERKY roster. Let’s work. ❤️🙏🏿"

Ben Cook, president, Atlantic Records U.K., told Music Week: "We’re thrilled to join forces. Together we’re going to take Stormzy global, and fill the #Merky roster with fresh new talent.”

Stormzy is nominated for two Brit Awards ahead of the 2018 ceremony, which takes place in London on February 21. Revisit his FADER cover feature here.
