Bryndon Cook has spent much of the past two years supporting Solange as a guitarist on her A Seat at the Table tours. But, on his own, the Brooklyn-based artist makes forward-thinking R&B songs as Starchild & The New Romantic. His new video for "Ophelia's Room," taken from his upcoming debut album Language, was directed by Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi and features Cook waxing nostalgic as he cradles a telephone in the crook of his neck.

"The telephone is a heavily symbolic piece both on this album and in New Romantic world," Cook explained to The FADER over email. "It's our worldly possession of communication. This video is a companion piece for one of my favorite B-Sides on the record too. Like a dream about giving "that person" a call after a long time has passed. A day dream or a nightmare all at once."

Cook's debut album as Starchild & The New Romantic is due out February 23 on Ghostly International. Preorder the album here and watch the video for "Ophelia's Room" above.
