Grimes has put a halt on speculation of her fifth album in an updated Instagram, as Stereogum points out.

In early February, the artist tweeted that the follow-up to 2015's Art Angels would be out this year. However, that announcement was deleted, and a Reddit user spotted a change to an Instagram photo caption which had previously described new music. It now reads "welp no music any time soon after all 🤔🤔🤔🙄🙄🙄🙄 music industry is trash."

Grimes also deleted an Instagram post describing progress on her new music from August. At the time she said she was "trying to legit make something you've never heard before." Grimes said she required "another month or 2 of pure unadulterated creativity" before she began finishing work on the songs.
