Brooklyn electronic artist Abbi Press released her newest single, "Totality," today via Urban Outfitters Radio, and it is a doozy. Pittering percussion and velvety instrumentation come together as a kaleidoscopic rendering that is what I imagine a dance party during a rain shower sounds, and feels, like: renewing, reinvigorating, and probably very emotionally cleansing.
"[I] wrote this song last year during the total solar eclipse," Press writes via email of the song. "Everyone was looking up at the sky and I was looking inward trying to comprehend the end of a two year relationship. Totality - the point of the solar eclipse when the sun is completely covered by the moon - was a moment that burned through my core; the blank, black disc summing up everything and bringing me one step closer to being whole again."
