On Monday, Daniel Lopatin a.k.a. Oneohtrix Point Never tweeted a link to download a demo written for Usher. The song was composed during a tour stop in London with Anohni, Lopatin wrote on Twitter – at that time, it was called "dejavu." He writes: "The topline which was written for Usher is insinuated with the right hand melody."

While Usher ended up rejecting the song, Lopatin's attempt at a collaboration didn't come out of nowhere: As Pitchfork points out, Usher approached Lopatin to work together after seeing him perform with Anohni. The demo was reconfigured by Lopatin into the song "The Station" for his new album Age Of.
