On Thursday, Rihanna was reportedly named the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of her home country Barbados, Billboard reports. The title reportedly comes "With specific responsibility for promoting education, tourism and investment for the island."
As Barbados's Government Information Service site points out, the island-country's Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley had much praise for the ANTI star, complimenting her patriotism, as well as her love for Barbados.
"Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education," Mottley says. "She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to Barbados and continues to treasure the island as her home."
Rihanna reportedly shared her thoughts on the honor as well, saying, “I couldn't be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country. Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility."
