It would be accurate to call "Frostbite," the new song from Hamilton-based signer/songwriter Linnea Siggelkow a.k.a. Ellis, a dream-pop tune. Getting more specific, though, the "dream" that the song's blighted emotions evoke is that kind of half-conscious exhaustion that can't commit to full oblivion because your eyes are too painfully puffed from crying. Mazzy Star and Slowdive are part of the tune's constellation, two points of light in a deep personal pain as clear and as desolate as rarefied winter air.

"'Frostbite' is an intense song for me," Ellis wrote in an email. "It’s a song about the worst night of my life. It was valentines day, I was standing in the snow without shoes on. I literally got frostbite on my feet. I was in a really toxic relationship that made me feel like I was going crazy."

"Frostbite" appears on Ellis's upcoming EP The Fuzz, out November 9. Listen to the song above and check out Ellis's upcoming tour dates.
