Oprah Winfrey's mother Vernita Lee has died at age 83, PEOPLE and TMZ report. Lee reportedly passed away in her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thanksgiving, and according to THR, a spokeswoman for Oprah says that a funeral service has already been held for Lee.
After being raised by her grandmother, Oprah didn't meet Lee until she was six years old; they then moved to Milwaukee. The two reportedly had a complicated relationship, which was fixed over the years. Lee was also featured getting a makeover on a 1990 episode of Oprah's talk show. Oprah has yet to speak publicly on the news.
