Britney Spears has announced that she will be taking an "indefinite work hiatus" and is postponing her recently announced Las Vegas residency. In an Instagram post which was shared on Friday, the pop veteran cited her father Jamie Spears's health as reasons for pulling out of the residency.
"I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination," Spears wrote. "I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make."
Spears went on to explain that her father was hospitalized a number of months ago and "almost died." Reps of Britnery informed The New York Times that the 66-year-old Spears's colon ruptured, which sent him to the hospital.
Spears's Domination residency is reportedly on hold until further notice.
