Former first lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance at the 2019 Grammys Sunday night. She joined Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett Smith, and J Lo on stage at the beginning of the show to share a sweet anecdote of the role music has played throughout her life.
"From the Motown records I wore out on the Southside, to the Who Run The World songs that fueled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story," she said over deafening applause. "Music shows us that all of it matters. Every story within every voice, every note within every song." You can watch a video of her full appearance here via The Hollywood Reporter.
