Melii shares her first raps, recalls bouts of anxiety, and more

She explains the time she needed to get through a rough patch in her life due to anxiety in this episode of First Times.

February 15, 2019

Harlem artist Melii had DJs and club patrons paying close attention when she released her cover of Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" in 2017. Then she had everyone moving to her bass-thumping "Icey" in 2018. The fresh face has kept the single roll out game strong as she preps her debut album for 2019.

Melii stopped by The FADER to bravely recite some of her very first raps, recall the start of her party organizing days with her friends at school, and talk about the stress she got from reading the comments on one of her videos.

She also mentioned learning more about herself through some time spent at a center to deal with her anxiety. For those who might also need any resources due to a similar situation, please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or give them a call at 1-800-273-8255.
