Big Thief have announced that their third album U.F.O.F. will be released in May on 4AD. The second 'F' in the record's title stands for friend, a sentiment which frontperson Adrianne Lenker elaborated on in a press release: “Making friends with the unknown… All my songs are about this. If the nature of life is change and impermanence, I’d rather be uncomfortably awake in that truth than lost in denial.”

Today, the band has offered the album's title track "UFOF," a song that tiptoes up out of its homespun atmosphere, into a whirring sky of chopped samples and back down again. Even while beckoning something cosmic, Big Thief's instinctive ability to locate the heartbeat of the circumstance is at full force.

The band's last album, Capacity, was released back in 2017. In the time since, they've kept busy with a number of solo projects (see: Adrianne Lenker's abysskiss LP and Buck Meek's recent single "Halo Light") and a seemingly endless tour schedule. They'll hit the road yet again this April for a North American and European run that stretches well into November. Peep the dates, and hear "UFOF," below.

U.F.O.F. is due out May 3 via 4AD.
