When we come to look back on the 2019 Oscars there will be many questions. Many will involve the Queen biopic while another will simply be, "Green Book, really?" However, If Beale Street Could Talk walking away with no honors and not even a Best Picture nomination might look worst of all in hindsight.

Barry Jenkins's beautiful adaptation of James Baldwin's 1974 novel walked away with an award for Regina King in the Best Supporting Actress category but nothing else. One of the biggest oversights was Nicholas Britell's melancholic score going unrecognized. However, his contribution to the film has received the next best thing to an Oscar: the chopped not slopped treatment courtesy of DJ Candlestick an OG Ron C.

Jenkins announced news of the album on Twitter by writing: "The feeling of being a kid circa 1989 and going to the 79th St. flea market to buy Oldie Goldie tapes from the mixtape man. OR — the spirit @BealeStreet was written & made in 🙏🏿"

Jenkins's previous movie Moonlight received the same remix in 2017. Check out If Beale Street Was Chopped below.
