Agua Viva’s “Las estrellas se quiebran” is a balmy pop hallucination

As Agua Viva, Josi Arias conjures balmy nights through misty art pop. Next month, the Argentinian artist will self release her sophomore album El Hechizo de la Luna, a project channelling the spirit of eighties Latin pop. The full record is due out June 21, and today, she's sharing its lead single “Las estrellas se quiebran," a hazy nocturne that contemplates the transience of a beautiful moment. It arrives with a Irina JP-directed video, which sways with a Lynchian sense of unease.

"It's about the ends and beginnings," Arias told The FADER. "How something as powerful as a star can also be fragile and disappear instantly, not existing anymore. How painful the end would be, and at the same time how beautiful, because it's a new beginning." Watch the "Las estrellas se quiebran" video, and peep Agua Viva's upcoming New York gigs, below.
