At one of the final Red Bull Music Academy events at this year's Red Bull Bass Camp in Calgary, Polaris Prize-winning artist Lido Pimienta chatted with host Anupa Mistry about her musical journey and working on her upcoming third album Miss Colombia - which has been in the works since at least 2016.

The singer touched on everything from her rock beginnings in Barranquilla, Colombia, how her Afro-Latinx and Indigenous identity has shaped her art, and working with traditional musicians from the historic San Basilio de Palenque region - the first free town in the Americas.

"I started reconnecting with the traditional groups that I grew up listening to I started reconnecting with the singing that formed me as a singer that was singing in the streets, singing in carnival...projecting without a microphone," Pimienta explained. "I needed that injection of life."
