There’s too much talent coming out of the DMV right now and Wifigawd is one of the top prospects in the pipeline. The Washington, DC native makes music that meets every need, whether that’s a pointed rap ballad or a more melodic anthem. Regardless of his approach, the rising artist always brings a soothing cadence to whatever instrumental he hops on. Even when he’s rapping his ass off, it doesn’t seem like he breaks a sweat. This calm-under-pressure quality makes listening to Wifi feel like watching an expert poker player work their magic at a high stakes table.
Over the past year he has been releasing a steady stream of mixtapes, typically with the assistance of a single producer. This has led to a focused sound across the entirety of his projects. On Underworld Order Vol 1 which premieres on The FADER today, Wifi meets menacing, distorted production from Hi-c, with brooding yet firm flows. "It's some of the hardest songs out with the most intricate production style, shout out hi-c for that. We on some innovative shit that's all I can say," he told The FADER over the phone.
