In our Current Mood series, we ask some of our favourite artists to curate a playlist according to a specific theme or mood of their choice. For Current Mood #004, LA producer Shallou shares a playlist that'll help you survive the hot days of summer. Listen to past Current Mood playlists here.

LA-based producer Shallou knows a bit about making music for the warmer months. His last record, 2018’s Souls, was a collection of blissed-out summer EDM, perfect for pool parties and cookouts, and his remixes have a knack for turning even the most wintry tracks into hazy festival anthems. It’s fitting, then, that the playlist he put together for our Current Mood series is called Songs To Melt To — a collection of tracks to help you get through the hotter days. There are some classics in Shallou’s mix — The Beach Boys, Animal Collective — alongside songs by Tycho, Kaytranada, and Major Lazer.

“This is a mix of songs for the hottest days of summer. These tracks literally sound like they're melting, oozing with lethargic synths and reverb soaked vocals,” Shallou tells The FADER via email. “The playlist cools down at the end with pillowy ambient pads and spacey lullabies meant for a sleepy metropolis.” Listen to Songs To Melt To below.
