A Screwdriver is possibly one of the easiest cocktails you can make, and it's definitely one of the most delicious. It's a little basic, but sometimes basic is good — simple drinks let you splash out a bit on high-quality ingredients that make all the difference in terms of flavor and, most likely, tomorrow's hangover. A Screwdriver is so simple — it's just vodka, orange juice and, if you want, bitters — that you probably don't even need an ingredients list or method. The best way to make it is just by taste.

When picking vodka for a Screwdriver, splash out on something a little nicer than your average bargain bin bottle; we like Tito's, Smirnoff, Grey Goose, Deep Eddy, Belvedere, and Effen. And when it comes to orange juice, squeeze your own if you can be bothered — you'll be surprised at the difference freshly squeezed OJ tastes. To put together your Screwdriver, simply pour a standard shot measure of vodka (roughly 30ml) into a tall glass, add ice, and top up with orange juice. Add a couple of drops of bitters at the end, stir, and enjoy.
