There’s an unreleased Flatbush Zombies and Nick Cave collaboration out there, somewhere

Here's one we didn't see coming: Nick Cave and Flatbush Zombies made a song together at one point in time. In a new post on his Red Hand Files blog, Cave writes about some of his favorite pieces of artist merch, one of which is a T-shirt from the Brooklyn rap trio. "I own a very beautiful Flatbush Zombies T-shirt, bought around the release of their first album," Cave writes. "A few years ago the Zombies and I attempted a collaboration and I sent them my version of the T. Rex classic, 'Cosmic Dancer.'"

Sadly, Cave goes on to write that the track never came to fruition... at least, not yet. "They said they “could not relate to it” but they radically pitch-shifted my voice, sampled it and used it anyway, as the percussive heartbeat to an extraordinarily wild and fucked-up piece of hip-hop that neither of us released." This isn't the first time Cave has expressed his admiration for Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick Arc Elliott: a few years back, when Cave performed at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, he called the band "fucking awesome."

Here's hoping the collaboration sees the light of day.
