London-based indie rock group Dry Cleaning take their wry and detached brand of punk and give it some love with the video for new song "Viking Hair."
The atmospheric track captures the band's sound, particularly vocalist Florence Shaw's terse and sardonic vocals, perfectly. The video, however, is a little more heartfelt. Filmed at a club in Claphan, south London, the video takes you inside Cactus Club; a weekly LGBT line dancing class and club where everyone is welcome.
Speaking to The FADER via email, the band said: "Whilst recording 'Viking Hair' we noticed the mood and rhythm of the song brought line dancing to mind. We found Cactus Club online and approached them to see if they would be interested in helping us to make a video. Dry Cleaning wish to thank the Cactus Club organisers and all the dancers who took part for sharing the fantastic atmosphere at their club with us, and for their enthusiasm and expertise."
"Viking Hair" is the first to be lifted from the band's forthcoming EP, Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks. That is out later this month and will be available alongside July's Sweet Princess EP in one 12" vinyl release from October 25.
