Up-and-coming NYC pop singer-songwriter Juletta is premiering her new single, “Strawberry,” today on The FADER. A song born out of her traveling adventures, the Ishan-produced track is filled with jazz piano chords and delicate synths, as overhead luggage bells ring to introduce the chorus and harp arpeggios glisten to suggest floating above the clouds.

While her music sounds expansive, her lyrics focus on small intimacies that she blows up into entire worlds. “I stick with a water and he buys another coke can,” she sings on the chorus detailing a memory, while the ethereal lilt of her voice makes her words sound like serpentine poetry.

Describing “Strawberry” in an email, Juletta writes, “The song tells the story of someone trapped in a state of flux, being pulled back and forth by what’s ahead and what she’s leaving behind.” It is a personal reflection as it is a galvanized call for a return to humanity; a reminder to look outside ourselves and most importantly, to be present.
