Just in time for cuffing season, Kranium is back with another sensual dancehall banger, "In Charge," and its lyric video is premiering today on The FADER. The Jamaican-born artist knows how to turn any speaker system into an aphrodisiac — his breakout single "Nobody Has To Know" and "Can't Believe," which was No. 56 on our Best Songs of 2017, still do the job. "In Charge" rests comfortably in that lineage, and the video, directed by Works Of Ace, takes the form of a leaked and intimate home movie.
Over email, Kranium told us about how the song came together: “A producer named Sketch from the Bahamas sent me the melody and I loved it. The guitar element is what really caught my ear. I have an ear for that kind of instrumentation – pianos, guitars, sax, etc. Listening to the melody I then realized that was the direction I wanted to go in – I wanted to be a boss on the record and so that’s how it came to be.”
Kranium's new project Midnight Sparks drops this fall via Atlantic Records.
