Negashi Armada joins Fat Tony and Taydex for “Godly” video

“I step in like Congresswoman Cortez.”

October 30, 2019

When you have struggled like Fat Tony has, you might just feel like a God when you start to taste success. While Negashi Armada eerily sings the hook, Texas rapper Fat Tony celebrates his wins after remembering that he was broke just months before recording this song. Producer Taydex created the sonic backdrop for this celebration but the dark overtones make it feel like more of a villain's anthem.

Fat Tony described the video's aesthetic via email: "Lenore Melo really freaked this video. Like, she reeeeally freaked it. Shot it, did the edit, *and* made the animation. She made the album art too. Thats what I call... *mwah* magnifique. It’s basically an episode of the '90s cartoon ReBoot. 'Godly' is a whole lot of rapping and two handsome Aries men shining amongst a sea of CGI. I left the lyrics on screen so you don’t fuck it up on Rap Genius. Enjoy!"

"Godly" comes as the first single from Fat Tony and Taydex's upcoming collaborative LP Wake Up, which will be released via Carpark Records on February 7.
