Noshvia Wu looks out for herself in her “Hurt Somebody” video
It plays out as both a dream and a nightmare.
On "Hurt Somebody," Noshvia Wu tackles the vicious cycle of hurting yourself and others simultaneously when you try to become overprotective. Warp Records producer Dutch E Germ put together a classical piano ballad that lightly dances underneath Wu's dense voice.
The video plays with visuals of comfort (water and soft fabrics) and danger (broken glass and blood) to illustrate Wu's struggle with pain: "In my feelings, you hurt somebody so you don’t get hurt. And you fall into the despair of not knowing what to do."
"Hurt Somebody" will be on Wu's next project Night Swim which will be released in 2020. It follows her singles "Crime" and "Question Mark."
