Kodie Shane and Trippie Redd are thick as thieves on “No Rap Kap”

Trippie Redd and Kodie Shane’s new collab, premiering on The FADER, takes their art to “another realm.”

January 17, 2020

Atlanta rapper Kodie Shane is gearing up for a big 2020, with a handful of projects in the pipeline set to be released over the course of the year. Fittingly, she’s starting off the year with a bang, dropping her fiery new Trippie Redd collab “No Rap Kap,” premiering today on The FADER. A harder-edged sequel to her previous collaborations with Trippie, “Negative Energy” and “Love and Drugz II,” “No Rap Kap” finds Kodie and Trippie flexing on girls and gleefully bragging about how in-demand their verses are. Accompanied with a noirish, neon-lit, Azzie Scott-directed video in which the pair are pursued and interrogated by some bumbling cops, it’s a stunning visual display of the pair’s thick-as-thieves dynamic.

“Over the years, Trippie and I have always had a crazy creative space. It’s ever growing and super organic with no real destination in mind,” Shane tells The FADER via email. “I can truly say we trust one another in the studio and that’s so rare. In my opinion, this is a great representation of both of our styles collided. We’ve created a lot of shit, but this joint walks us into another realm.” Watch the video for “No Rap Kap” above, and find Kodie Shane and Trippie Redd’s tour dates below.
