A Hundred Drums, or Gabrielle Watson, has been making bass music since 2006 but has only recently discovered what's at the core of her music, or what she describes as her "beating heart of the dance floor." On the California producer's succinct seven-track project, she arrives at a primal level with the percussion and surrounding sounds that feel molded by the darkness.

The music progresses from very minimal tracks to more layered ones and even a vocal appearance from Virginia rapper Jayne Gray on the last track "Lord of Tings." It's something that can bring you into a cave of mystery as well as lead you out of it.

A Hundred Drums will also be performing at a few festivals this year: Lucidity, Ubbi Dubbi, Lightning in a Bottle, and Bassnectar's Freestyle in Colorado. She also has merch available through her Bandcamp.
