L.A. rapper Drakeo The Ruler will release a new project, Free Drakeo, on March 2 to coincide with his his latest court date, where he'll face charges of criminal gang conspiracy and shooting from a motor vehicle — despite being acquitted on all charges of murder and attempted murder in relation to the death of 24-year-old Davion Gregory last year. We've already heard the first track from the tape — the Danny Brown-featuring "Out The Slums" remix — and now there's a new version of "Pippy LongStockin,” premiering at the top of the page.

This time Drakeo brings three rising stars with him in 1TakeJay, Bravo The Bagchaser, and Lil 9, leaving his brother Ralfy The Plug's verse intact. In an email to The FADER, Drakeo explained how he came up with the song title and why he pulled this group together.

The name "Pippi Longstocking" came to me the last time I was jail. Boom "Pippi Longstocking." I knew I needed to switch shit up because "Shenaynay's" was getting old. I figured people would think it was funny.

For the remix, I figured that I’m gonna' embrace everyone who fucks with me. I fucks with Lil 9, he's keeping this shit alive. A lot of people are probably gonna be mad that I put 9 on here, but you know what, your verse probably wasn't gonna be better than his and that’s why he’s on the damn song
And Bravo, I'd heard he was good, but I wasn't ’about to throw the nigga on the song until I heard him rap, and when I did, I was like damn, actually the shit is real cool.

I ain't even like my brother's verse at first if I'm being honest. I told him to do it over, but everybody else liked it. Still, I was bitch you gotta do it over again. Then Navin was like what are you talking about, 'he gassed it.' It’s funny.

It’s all really competition. And I know I picked the right people for this.

Right now, Ralfy's parole hearing is scheduled for April of next year, but he'll most likely get out sometime this fall or winter. And Ketchy should be home any day now. My trial starts March 2. Come to court. I'm going to be wearing two turtlenecks, all Louis. You'll love it.
