Produced by Ahmed's Swet Shop Boys collaborator Redinho, the album is described by Ahmed as "a breakup album - but with your country. So many of us feel like we’re being dumped by the place we call home, a home that we built. This album takes you on the journey of this breakup; through the stages of denial, anger, acceptance, and finally self-love to counter the hate.”

The Long Goodbye film is directed by Aneil Karia, whose debut feature Surge won a Jury prize at this year's Sundance Festival. Last year Karia directed three episodes of Netflix series Top Boy. Ahmed will perform the album live in the U.K. and U.S. in the coming months. He is scheduled to appear at Manchester International Festival (March 26-28) and Brooklyn Academy of Music (April 3-4).
