Hare Squead capitalize on a politician’s misstep in their “Minor Gangsters” video

“Fuck the white man tellin’ me that I’m a minor G.”

When then-Tory nominee for Prime Minister Rory Stewart tried to build a voter base in London last spring, he unknowingly ran into Irish duo Hare Squead and a friend. The short interaction seemed harmless but when Stewart was later asked about the meeting he referred to the three men as "minor gangsters," with no reasonable evidence to point to for that term. Fast forward to today, Hare Squead have a new project out titled Superweird, as well as a video for their single "Minor Gangsters."

The video is a psychedelic trip into nature, far removed from any setting a gangster would actually be caught in. The production works off a smooth guitar line that sounds like it was taken out of a Western flick. Both Lilo Blues and Tony Konstone take turns rapping about how, while they might not have lived a life of crime that a presumptuous person might assume, they're close with people who were deep in it.
