Country icon Kenny Rogers has died
The singer-songwriter, producer, and actor was 81.
Legendary country musician Kenny Rogers has died at 81, according to CNN. The singer's family took to Twitter to share Rogers had died of natural causes while in hospice care.
With 24 No. 1 hits including "Lady," "Lucille," and "Through The Years," and 50 million albums sold in the US alone, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame back in 2013. What may be one of his most notable songs, his 1978 single "The Gambler," would go on to inspire a film series of the same name and cast him as the lead character.
"Country Music has lost the great Kenny Rogers, who has forever left a mark on Country Music's history," the Country Music Association said in a statement about Rogers' passing. "His family and friends are in our thoughts during this difficult time."
