Swedish singer-songwriter JÁNA wasn't always comfortable letting people know the details of her personal life. But she worked up the courage to reveal parts of herself while writing sketches of a song in her home studio. Eventually, working with Little Dragon in their studio, that bloomed into "Wild Roses," her debut single, premiering above. The jazzy, minimal beat fully blooms at the end with lush, guitar and drums fills after JÁNA sings for an eventual closure for her former love: "I won't tell/One day I hope you do."

In an email, she explained the personal progress she made when working on the song: "It's about this person I was beginning a relationship with, my first impression of her and what our relationship might become. This is actually the first song I've ever used a pronoun in, mostly because I thought it sounded ugly before, but now I feel like this song has been a part of helping me to not be so secretive about who I like anymore. The wild rose is an ancient symbol for something told in secret so I felt that it made perfect sense."

"Wild Roses" will be on JÁNA's upcoming EP Flowerworks, which is due for release on July 3.
