Xzavier Stone mixes rave and hip-hop on XZ

If Mase played house music, it might sound like Xzavier Stone's XZ. The four songs on his new EP have tons of hip-hop drums and occasionally braggadocios raps, but they also contain the ecstasy of eccentric electronic sounds and chipmunk vocal samples. In an email, Stone broke down the inspiration for the project: "Four club-ready songs as a sequel to my debut long-player THIRST. [This] EP is heavily influenced by jiggy '00s instrumentals and contemporary minimalistic, yet hard-knocking US rap music. On XZ I wanted to raise questions about male identity, vanity and megalomania in hip-hop culture in a playful way."
