With its sputtering garage-inflicted production (a relic that he found on an old hard drive) and self-aware quips, London jazz-rapper Rarelyalways' newest single "Caption" feels like a concise exhibition of his minimalist swagger. In the song's self-directed video, premiering here today, he brings the track to the pavement: "The video is simply snap-shots of a figure who has a weak support network with an unlimited amount of freedom, which could be perceived as abandonment," he writes to The FADER. "Throughout the scenes we frame awkward moments as we see this figure age via his shoe size.”
The track will appear on his forthcoming EP Baby Buffalo, due out in its entirety on October 30 via Innovative Leisure. In the meantime, watch "Caption" below.
