Tomorrow, Sony Music's Legacy Recordings will share a deluxe edition of Outkast's ATLiens to celebrate its 25th anniversary. If you're unfamiliar, the second studio album from the Atlanta duo helped change the course of hip-hop forever. No longer was the genre entrenched in two competing coasts — the Atlanta duo helped prove the southern United States were producing pioneering art that could stand next to anything coming out of New York and California.
Just before the release of the deluxe, you can watch a new, super slick animated music video for "Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)," a standout on ATLiens and Outkast's catalogue in general. Director Rafatoon and production company dreambear create a psychedelic block for Big Boi and Andre 3000 to traverse with a couple of trips into outer space, naturally.
The deluxe edition of ATLiens will come with 14 previously unreleased instrumental tracks. There's also an ATLiens video game for mobile and desktop browsers in the works from London studio F That. On Monday August 30, Organized Noize, the production team behind Outkast, will host a live stream event discussing ATLiens with Brandon Butler of Butter.ATL and Dr. Joycelyn Wilson.
