“Old Nollywood has had some of the biggest impact on Gen-Z fashion and style," Starr said in a statement about the visual. "I thought it would be fun and beautiful to re-create that era and its influence on pop culture as a whole. ‘Beggie Beggie’ is not just a sad song, it’s about a young woman seeing things for what they are."

Last August, Starr released her debut album 19 & Dangerous, which included "Bloody Samaritan" and "Fashion Killer." In January 2021, she released her self-titled debut EP. CKay's "Love Nwantiti," which cracked the Billboard Hot 100's Top 40, became a viral hit last year after a slowed down remix emerged on TikTok.
