The original version of the song is driven by its drums, creating an atmosphere he describes as “a dance song for wallflowers,” “body music for the brain,” and “a gently caffeinated disco gallop.” Devine’s sensitivity shines through the groove-laden production, though, as he asks “How can I help you push through yourself to me? / How I can help you tell me what you need?” On the acoustic version, premiering below, Devine is able to key into the softness at the heart of the song, adding to the empathetic nature that defines his work across all avenues. It’s a tender embrace in a world that so often feels cold and uninterested in helping others.

Devine will be touring across the U.S. in support of Nothing’s Real, So Nothing’s Wrong. Pronoun, Kississippi, and Kayleigh Goldsworthy will provide support across select dates. The tour officially kicks off on April 6 in Baltimore, MD.
