Kid Cudi has been teasing Entergalactic, the animated series he created alongside Black-ish's Kenya Barris, for a few years now but the pace is really picking up now with the first reveal of the show. A teaser clip was shared on Wednesday as part of Netflix's Geeked Week alongside new Cudi music and details of the stacked voice cast. Check it out below.
The song you can hear in the back of the teaser trailer is "Do What I Want," Cudi has confirmed the full track will drop on Friday, June 10. Cudi himself takes on the lead role of young artist Jabari with an eclectic array of stars involved. Actors Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, Keith David, and Arturo Castro are all on board. Meanwhile, Cudi's music connections presumably helped him recruit Ty Dolla $ign, 070 Shake, Teyana Taylor, and Jaden Smith to get involved, too. And then there is Macaulay Culkin who will play a character named Downtown Pat, a "legendary delinquent" according to press materials. The show will debut on Netflix in the fall.
Posting on Instagram, Cudi shared his excitement at finally having his hard work out in the open. "I have been waiting 3 long years for you all to see what I’ve been working on all this time. My greatest achievement. This project will move you, it will take your heart places and make you fall in love again. I am so proud of every single person involved who helped bring my vision to life. From the animators but more specifically Fletch Moules, to the voice actors, my BEAUTIFUL team at Netflix: The mega awesome cool guy Mike Moon and the ever so lovely and sweet Elizabeth Porter, everyone showed up with their A game and delivered. I LOVE YOU ALL!!"
Per Deadline, the plot of Entergalactic follows Jabari as he attempts to balance love and success in New York. It's there he meets new neighbor, photographer it-girl, Meadow, voiced by Williams. Chalamet, meanwhile, plays a weed dealer turned crypto bro.
