Lil Nas X shares his BET diss track “Late To Da Party” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again

After zero nominations at the 2022 BET Awards, Lil Nas channeled his Twitter venting into a song.

In early June, the 2022 BET Awards released its slate of nominees. Lil Nas X did not get a nod for any trophies, despite a titanic year with his album Montero and its hit singles "Industry Baby," "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and "That's What I Want." Lil Nas has been vocal about the perceived snub, saying in a series of now-deleted tweets this month: “black gay people have to fight to be seen in this world... [It] doesn’t even have to be me nominated. I just feel like…even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible."

Today, Lil Nas shares "Late To Da Party (Fuck BET)," a diss track he previewed with a snippet in June and his first new single since the Montero album. Produced by his longtime hitmaking collaborators Take A Daytrip, the song features a verse from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, the Louisiana rapper currently on house arrest. That might seem like a problem in terms of making a music video, but Lil Nas takes it in stride with some cheap-and-cheerful video editing skills that allow both rappers to crash the awards ceremony. Check it out above.

Lil Nas X performed a medley of songs at the 2022 Grammys and will soon set out on his Long Live Montero tour..
