Lily-Rose Depp will star alongside Abel Tesfaye in the upcoming HBO Max series.

The Weeknd has shared a teaser trailer for The Idol, an upcoming HBO Max show described as portraying "the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood." The Weekend, a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye, created the series alongside Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson. He takes a lead role as a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader who takes a young singer (Lily-Rose Depp) under his wing. A release date for The Idol is currently unknown. The show has announced an extensive cast, however, with Rachel Sennott, Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, Blackpink’s Jennie, Anne Heche, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and Hari Nef among those confirmed to appear.

The Weeknd is currently on the road on a North American tour in support of Dawn FM. Doja Cat was originally due to open on the tour but pulled out and was replaced by Kaytranada and Snoh Aalegrah.
