Davido and his fiancée, celebrity chef Chioma Rowland, have not yet commented on their son's death. A representative for Davido declined to comment when reached by The FADER.

A police spokesperson told the BBC that they were alerted to an incident at Davido's home when a member of staff called them at 10 p.m. local time on October 31. He stressed that the staff being questioned are not under arrest.

"We are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death," Benjamin Hundeyin said.

Afrobeats artist Davido released his third solo studio album A Better Time in 2020. This summer he toured North America for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic and shared new song "Stand Strong." Later this year he is scheduled to headline his own festival, Are We African Yet?, which takes place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on November 18.
